About
Megan English is a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist (ADMP) with a private practice in Hamilton, Canada. Her practice focuses on the integration of dance movement therapy and sensorimotor psychotherapy in the treatment of trauma, developmental injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. She has implemented DMT programs for health settings including: dementia and long-term care, residential treatment for addictions, disordered eating and refugees/new comers mental health. She investigates the following areas to inform her practice: somatic psychology, attachment theory, creative arts therapy methods, parts work, the neurobiology of trauma and dance as an intervention for trauma.
Megan’s research at Roehampton University explored the benefits of DMT for adolescents in residential treatment. Through her board work with the Dance Movement Therapy Association in Canada, she contributes to the development of the field in Canada.
